When searching IRS records or public charity databases, the organization will be listed under General Sports Foundation. Suite Dreams Project is the program name through which our bedroom transformation work is carried out.
Why We Operate This Way
General Sports Foundation was established as the governing nonprofit entity to support charitable initiatives. As Suite Dreams grew into a focused mission serving children facing medical challenges, it became the foundation’s primary charitable program.
Operating under this structure provides:
Established nonprofit governance
Board oversight and accountability
Financial transparency through annual IRS filings
Public charity status, allowing us to receive broad community support
Because our funding comes from individuals, families, corporate partners, and community fundraising efforts, we are classified as a public charity, not a private foundation.
Public Charity vs. Private Foundation
A public charity receives financial support from the general public and actively serves community needs.
A private foundation is typically funded and controlled by a single individual, family, or corporation.
Suite Dreams Project is funded by the community and exists to serve the community — which is why it operates under public charity status.
Financial Transparency
General Sports Foundation files an annual IRS Form 990 as required by law.
The most recent tax return is available for public review.
Prior-year filings are available upon request.
We are committed to responsible stewardship, clarity, and transparency in all financial matters.
